In his short explanation on this particular note, Mr. Scheufele explained the link he sees and likes between watch- and wine-making is that both require a very long time to do well, need a great deal of flexibility, in addition to the understanding and utilization of both conventional and contemporary know-how. A main distinction is how mother nature can at the last minute strongly affect the quality of the wine — not so much that of the watch, he joked (now I could feel how mother nature and his own lack of compromise in looking for quality have placed him through some struggles while trying to receive their own Bergerac vineyard up to his standards). The Chopard L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru is an appealing watch that legitimately introduces a exceptional offering in a classic style tonneau watch which achieves both a slim case and an automatic movement. It’s a shame to find a wristwatch which gets all (or many of) the major and minor details right but only stumbles a little in messaging because of how subtly its individuality is communicated. The L.U.C lineup has always flown under the radar, letting the watches talk for themselves. The Chopard L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru is an attractive watch that officially presents a exceptional offering in a classic style Tonneau watch which accomplishes both a slim case and a automatic motion. It’s priced in 22,300 CHF. Inspired by watchmaker and heritage father Louis-Ulysse Chopard, the L.U.C collection bearing his ribbon was home to arguably a number of Chopard’s finest contemporary work. Introduced in 2005, the Lunar One gets a new dial design and a platinum case this season. No real surprise here, but the watch looks amazing and is still another object of lust for all but 100 people who will get to call one of these their own.
To mark its 60th anniversary in 2015, the Porsche Club of America worked with Chopard to create a Mille Miglia chronograph for club members.
Founded in 1955, the Porsche Club of America (PCA) is the world’s largest single brand car club. For its 60th anniversary next year PCA just unveiled the Chopard Mille Miglia PCA limited edition, a self-winding chronograph with blue dial and the PCA logo on the back. As sponsor of the Mille Miglia and the Grand Prix Historique de Monaco, Chopard has a significant involvement in motor racing. That’s due in large part to its owners, the Scheufele family, who are keen vintage car collectors.
The PCA edition is a variant of the standard Mille Miglia chronograph, with a 42 mm case and an COSC-certified, ETA 2894 movement inside. But instead of the standard black this dial is in metallic blue, with the club logo silkscreened into the sapphire case back.
60 of these will be made in steel with a price of US$5990, with another six in 18k rose gold priced at US$21,000. They are available only to PCA members right here.
